Theme I: Habits, “Quitting”

by Monica “the Abstract”

No more ciggies

for me, ‘cause I’m

tobacco-free.

I’ve decided

squares are for squares,

buzzas so lame.

Too expensive,

unhealthy, I’ll say.

But really,

it’s for you.

I can’t go on

paying homage

to those things,

the cigarettes,

Marb Reds, that made

your lungs turn black.

Watched them burn you,

turn you to ash.

And, yes, I know

I still fuck up,

especially

when I’m fucked up.

Something about

high BAC

that makes me fiend

for nicotine.

I’m only human.

Don’t we all

die anyway?
