Theme V: Waiting, “Passing”

By Emma Dollery

This night is blue-mooned,
full of all the wrong sentiments
that are dripping off my tongue.
Brown spots linger like the reminisce of a whisper.
Who are you?
Left me waiting for the memories to fade
into the bruises on my skin.
Clad in cold,
under invisible stars
writing in my mind
song lyrics about this place:
We sang a song or two
in a folding, shattered blue
sky of clouds and colors
reminding us all that summer
would come,
and then it would go
we are all young
and soon we’ll be old.
