I bought a new shirt at Goodwill. It’s covered in tasty-looking cheeseburgers and has the word “Mrs.” scrawled across it in pink Barbie letters. I wore it to my two hour and 45 minute Poetry class and rounding the one o’clock hour, my teacher told the rest of my classmates to avert their eyes from my distracting, delicious shirt. I don’t know what American Apparel was going for when they designed this shirt, but I do believe a statement is trying to be made.
We sleep, we drink, we consume. If it’s not food (i.e. tasty-looking cheeseburgers), then it’s art, Netflix, drugs, people. Enjoy this week’s submissions and the explorations into consumption.
